- In order to install a McAfee product you must first uncompress
- (unzip) the Disks.zip file that you downloaded from the McAfee BBS.
- Uncompressing(unzipping) this file will result in the creation
- of a number of diskette sized subdirectories called Disk1, Disk2,
- Disk3, etc. Be sure to use the -d parameter when unzipping the
- Disks.zip file so that the subdirectories will be created. If you
- wish to install your McAfee product from diskettes, you can easily
- copy the contents of each subdirectory to a diskette.
-
- All McAfee products are easy to install using the setup.exe file
- that is located in the subdirectory Disk1 or on diskette number 1
- if you are installing from diskettes. You must run the setup.exe
- program to install McAfee products. The program files are compressed
- and if you simply copy the files from the subdirectories or diskettes
- there is the chance that important setup procedures may be bypassed
- which will cause unpredictable results.
-
- You will need to use the Windows file manager or file run feature
- to execute the setup.exe program. You can do this by changing the
- current directory to the location of the Disk1 subdirectory or to
- the diskette drive that contains diskette number 1 and double
- clicking on setup.exe.
-
- From this point on you will be prompted by the software to complete
- the install. The complete installation procedure is documented
- in the doc.zip file which you downloaded from the McAfee BBS.
- It will be necessary to unzip this file to make it readable.
- After you have successfully loaded the product there is a readme.txt
- file available which contains important information not included in
- the doc.zip file.
